What does Mama Sumae mean?

The war cry "Mama Sumae!" (or "Mama Sume!" ) originated from a Bantu tribe in southern Angola, where it was used during the ceremony of entering adulthood. In Portuguese, it means "Here we are, ready for sacrifice!" This cry symbolizes strength, courage and the willingness to face challenges, reflecting the mentality of those who are prepared to take on responsibilities and overcome difficulties.

Adopted by the Portuguese Commandos , the war cry has become a symbol of unity, determination and commitment to the mission. It represents the readiness to face the most demanding challenges and the willingness to sacrifice in the name of the collective. By incorporating this cultural expression, the commandos reinforce the spirit of courage and resilience, creating a strong sense of identity and cohesion within the unit.
